. . . appointed by the Medical University Vienna International as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to start up the private ASA Sarajevo Hospital in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

Vice President Medical Affairs - Medpoint Asia. As part of this role Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the R&F Hospital in Guangzhou to start up this specialist, private international hospital. Combined with this up to 500 bed international hospital there are 3 buildings with about 500 condominiums for retired senior citizen, including a rehabilitation center and 24hr care.

Was appointed for an interim 6 month period to restructure & reorganize the St Helena health care system, organization and structure. Following the strategic analysis of the health directorate to become more cost effective, started to work for a change to an independently managed not-for-profit but commercially minded operation with the need to introduce a health insurance arrangement. Furthermore, initiated to start the process to shift from a pure therapeutic concept to a preventive outlook of medicine on the St Helena island. other Activities: Started weekly newspaper columns for the local newspaper to inform about COVID preparedness and home quarantine

Joined to re-organize this tertiary private Hospital. All medical staff and auxiliary services report to me. Main purpose is to reorganize patient services to improve quality and outcome, prepare and organize the hospital for accreditation by starting a substantial clinical governance and quality control program and organize a cardiac team to start the only cardiac surgery service in the country. Organize the PR work of the hospital, start new marketing initiatives and start training programs for young local doctors.

Pre-opening and opening as well as logistics and medical start-up of the Hospital and Surgical Department – preparing the JCI accreditation of the hospital. I was hired 8 month before planned opening to organize the cardiac department. Within 1 month my responsibilities were expanded to overall responsibility for the whole hospital as Medical Director / CMO.

One of the first non-Chinese doctors to head a new private heart hospital in China. The Jilin Heart Hospital was one of the first private special hospitals in China at that time. Organized the logistics and medical start-up of a 300 bed, 40 ICU bed, specialized cardiac center for adult and pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery. The Jilin Heart Hospital became University Teaching Hospital of the Jilin Beihua University in 2015.

Organized the pre-opening of this hospital and started this specialized cardiac hospital from an empty building to the first successful surgery in 6 month and turned it into the leading cardiac center in Albania at that time.

Invited as visiting cardiac consultant to the cardiac surgery department at the Kind Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Jeddah and was flown to Riyadh and asked to apply for the position as head of department.

Part-time consultant cardiac surgeon responsible for all adult cardiac operations - specifically complex mitral valve repair procedures, and assisting, training of young doctors.

Part-time visiting consultant cardiac curgeon in Skopje at this new cardiac surgery program - operating up to 4-5 open heart operations per day myself and helping to train young doctors.

Parallel to working as a cardiac surgeon in Vienna and Skopje I had my main interest as CEO and entrepreneur for the start-up project development of a private Heart Centre & combined hotel in Austria. This venture, in cooperation with the US Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF) and the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) was aiming to realize a highly specialized private Cardiac Centre in Austria. A 150 bed private medical facility in combination with a 200 bed hotel was developed up to the finalized bank financing [62 Mio€ bank leasing and raised seed investment of 22 Mio€] with all permissions for realization and starting construction. The project was sold to an Austrian government group - the new hospital opened as psychosomatic clinic in 2011.
